Viomedic is constantly at the side of its customers, taking care of the comprehensive coverage of the needs of patients with respiratory problems. Our specialization, continuous training and experience in the field allow us to already know some of the most frequently asked questions; so, here you can find all the answers you might need.
General questions about breathing apparatus:
Once the patient has been examined by a pulmonologist (either a private or a public hospital doctor) who has prescribed them an oxygen concentrator, they should contact us and our company will cover their needs as soon as possible with product delivery and end-user training.
If you notice loud snoring, breathing interruptions, a feeling of suffocation during your sleep or if you wake up tired, it would be a good idea to contact your nearest sleep study clinic. In case your doctor prescribes you a breathing apparatus for Apnea, you can contact us to book an appointment and a fully qualified employee will provide you with all the available specialized options, properly adjusted to your doctor’s instructions.
Note: A medical prescription is not obligatory if you wish to buy the machine and not just rent it by using a voucher by the Greek National Health Service Organization (EOPYY).
If you have rent a breathing apparatus from our company and you need to travel for more than 1 hour and 30 minutes, you can contact us to provide you with portable medical oxygen. In case you need a more permanent portable solution, you can rent or buy a portable oxygen concentrator, instead.
Breathing apparatus rental:
Respiratory devices available for rent by using a voucher from the Greek National Health Service Organization (EOPYY) are: Oxygen concentrators, CPAP (either with or without a humidifier), BIPAP, and ventilators.
The conditions for renting a portable oxygen concentrator according to EOPYY are 2:
- The patient must be ambulatory.
- The patient should already have a fixed oxygen concentrator at home.
Note: A request to the Supreme Health Council of the Greek National Health Service Organization should be attached to the doctor’s prescription document.
If the patient is not interested in renting, but in purchasing a portable oxygen concentrator, they can contact the company directly to proceed with the purchase.
A patient, who rents a breathing apparatus through the Greek National Health Service Organization, is entitled periodically to a free of charge limited number of consumables. The period of time and the type of the consumables depend on the category of the respective breathing equipment.
Uninsured and resided abroad
If you are uninsured, you should ensure that you get a prescription from a pulmonologist of the General Hospital of Kavala (not a private doctor). With the prescription from the Pulmonologist of the General Hospital of Kavala and the attestation that you are entitled to Free Pharmaceutical Care, you can contact us to cover all your need according to your prescribed respiratory equipment.
In case you are insured and resided abroad, you can rent the device you are interested in through the Greek National Health Service Organization (EOPYY), only if you have an insurance card or a Social Security number (AMKA).
If you want to visit Greece for a certain period of time, in order for us to be able to serve you, you should have with you your E112 document, that you can get from your health service organization / insurance, and which specifically mentions the dates you will be in Greece.
Vulnerable Groups support
As long as you have the doctor’s prescription and wish to apply for the Social Residential Tariff, our company can provide you with some of the documents needed. You should then contact your local public hospital to receive a protocol number and guidance to complete the application.
In case of SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19), your pulmonologist will define if you are in need of an oxygen concentrator. If so, you should contact us and we will ensure that your needs are covered as soon as possible by a fully qualified employee, who will provide you with all the available specialized options, properly adjusted to your doctor’s instructions, deliver the breathing equipment to your home and demonstrate its function.
